What age should you begin music lessons

Some people are lucky and begin their music lessons early, even as early as the age of 5. The earlier one begins the better because they have years of perfecting the skill. Still, it is never too late to start. Once you develop the interest and the interest doesn’t wane then that is your cue to learn until you are good. You have probably heard of the famous musical prodigies such as Mozart who wrote his first symphony at the age of eight. The legendary Stevie Wonder who sang with Motown at age 11 and others like Violinist Midori and Herbie Hancock being early starters as well. Back then, of course, they took kids music lessons and learned from other pros that were before them.

There have been instances where people have been known to complain that their parents forced them to play an instrument when they were young and how they hated it. Most parents refrain from taking their children to music lessons until they are older. This is because they don’t want to force their children to do what they don’t want. They want their children to be old enough to choose an instrument that they really love and not one that has been imposed on them. One they are older you will here parents saying, “I am looking for music lessons for kids near me so that I can drop and pick my child easily.”

Clearly, such parents want the best for their children. Still, the important question here is not when to start but what is the goal of music lessons for young children. When people get that right then the rest shouldn’t be difficult no matter what age they begin.
